Hi

I have been a member of the News Group about two weeks now. I notice that there
have been some articles on the cleaning and separation of glycerine from
biodiesel . My colleague and I have been producing biodiesel for a few months
now and we have consistently had a slight haze in the finished biodiesel. We
found that warming or filtering the biodiesel can clean the product of
considerably but this can be time-consuming. Does anybody can any experience of
using any different methods of cleaning up the biodiesel when its pH reaches 7?
With the changes in tax laws here in the UK next April my colleague and I are
considering whether this would be a viable process on a larger scale and would
be interested in hearing from anybody who has set up an efficient batch
process. We have some ideas of ourselves and have some experience into batch
processing on a small-scale but to make the jump to a larger scale perhaps on
commercial basis the whole set up needs to be looked at hand in many!
cases automated. We do have a particular interest in the use of a vacuum to
separate out methanol and perhaps water from the WVO. Any advice and assistance
would be greatly appreciated.

Stephen Gerry.
