Hello, I can't seem to get lye completely dissolved in the methanol.
3.5g 98.5% NaOH, or 4.5 g NaOH, in 200ml 99.9% methanol - mixing, stirring, letting sit, waiting, magnetic stirring, days and days' waiting, tilting - regardless. There is always a thin white sediment that quickly settles on the bottom of the jar, the liquid is always milky. Is this normal? Is the solution super-saturated?
