No offense to anyone .... but I believe the original meaning that was "intended" (to use "modern" English "understanding" of words) was:
"Thou shalt not spill innocent blood". Or something to that effect. That's why "murder" was considered "wrong". And yet why "self-defense" (shooting a rapist attacking your wife) left everyone nodding their heads in "understanding" and you leaving the courtroom as pronounced "innocent". The rapist had already played out his hand ... already pegged himself as "not exactly innocent". And so his death being "justifiable". What it all comes down to ... in my eyes ... as far as this war is concerned ... is this: That all soldiers .. on ALL sides .. probably believe what there own government's are telling them .. that the "other side's the one who hit us FIRST". Believing that - in fact - that "what I'm doing" ... is "right". Otherwise .. why would they be there??? Therefore ... I believe ... that when the dust settles ... ALL these soldiers ... will be judged (and I'm talking judgement by Deity) ... as "innocent". As they all believed that they were "self-defending" something. It is when you go up the governmental hiearchy ... when you go up HIGH ENOUGH ... that somewhere "up there" ... you will find somebody saying, "HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Those IDIOTS!! They THINK that they're defending something!!! HAHAHAHA!! They're defending something alright .... MY POCKETBOOK!!! Or "my power over my people". Or "my right to gas my own people". Or "my right to bully the world's oil supply to my bank account's benefit". ". THIS person ... with THIS motive .. be it Saddam or Bush or Blair. THIS is the person I believe .. that Deity will judge as "spilling innocent blood" ... for "selfish purposes". And therefore will judged "Guilty" ... of all those "Bible" stuff mentioned earlier. However, being that we, as mere mortals, cannot possibly "see" into the hearts of any (or all) of these men .... who are we to judge?? That's why I cringe whenever I see us US'ers attack Iraq ... and go in there singing, "we carry the ARM OF GOD .. TRUTH AND RIGHT". To me ... that's kind of a stretch.
