Peter, I use www.hostexcellence.com. They allow you to set the mapping between file extension and content type, which enables this. This works for my .svg files but I haven't tried .svgz. You can check out a couple of embedded svg files on my site at http://www.medicalcomputing.net/svg_tutoria

Peter, Any hosting company that provides Apache hosting and allows you to write your own .htaccess files should be fine. If you have that, then you can support SVG and gzip encoded SVG on your site regardless of the server configuration. See http://wiki.svg.org/Server_Configuration:Apache If y
