Plain "OpenSword" can still be referred to as the OpenSword Bible software
(lowercase T and S), after all, that's what it is, Bible
software! ;o) I'm not sure why it needs to be nailed down closer than
that unless you're needing it for legal documents or something ;o)

You need the schemes.conf file if you want to have predefined color schemes.
It is really small so I have attached it if you need it. Just place it into
the same folder as the sword.exe file.

Hmm, it looks like it could be really cool, but it causes nothing but
crashing for me. I select a scheme (this even happens for the Default
scheme now) and restart. The splash screen works fine, but the next
thing I see (after clicking OK) is an access violation. The background
color is correct

They are but then fonts and text colors are also. I think you can override
most of these, not just fonts and text colors.

Thank you, I've gotten into the bad habit of leaving the "worldnet" part
out of my email address since worldnet.att.net and att.net are one in the
same. It had never even occured to me that it would cause problems with
email lists.

I think you're duplicating work :)
Get BibleTime 1.x and have a look into the backend/sword_backend directory.
We have methods for next book etc. already implemented there.
It's also a good example how to use filters (see class CSwordBackend for
this).
