list but I am wondering if there is a general problem because it also seems
to be missing from the CrossWire module list here:

Yes, unfortunately it was discovered that this module contained
copyrighted content. The non-copyrighted portions remain available in
the RusSynodal module that was intended to replace this in any case.

if these two processes are copyrightable should depend on the country.
There were no statements made as to where that company sits. In the
European Union, only /creative acts/ are copyrightable. You don't have a
copyright just because you put a lot of work into, say, digitalizing a

I agree, but I just want to add from a European perspective that your
considerations only apply to the US. There are no software patents in
Europe. (I don't know about Russia.) So there is even less ground to
argue that any part of this work could pe protected in some way.
