I think it always has been part of PBS's plans to have a more global-oriented
newscast. The BBC on PBS was never considered more than a stopgap until that
could be done. Martin Savidge is an excellent journalist and this broadcast
will evolve if given the time to do so. Lately, PBS programing
Syndication of BBC World TV newscasts has shifted from WLIW in NY to KCET in
Los Angeles. I recently was pleased to see Maryland Public TV again carrying
the newscast at 5:30 PM local time. They had dropped it for a long time. The
video quality is excellent. Someplace (maybe at MPT) they are
The BBC has a show on the BBC World satellite channel called Click. It is a
technology show. At about 13 mins 50 secs. into this video they have a story
on DRM in Europe. Some technical inaccuracies, but it is basically good.
