My name is Vaishnavi Jeurkar, I will be participating in this year's GSOD. I am
reaching out to you today because I am interested in developing documentation
for SymPy. While going through the official website of SymPy
(https://sympy.org) I noticed that making certain changes to it might provide a
better user experience and improve the overall documentation.
Here is a list of suggestions I would like to provide:
• Adding a discussion forum to the website will enable users to interact
with one another. The users can post the problems they face while installation
or while running a function of SymPy and other users can provide better
insights in solving those problems.
• There are different libraries available for numerical computations in
python. A section is needed to describe how different libraries can be
integrated with SymPy to enhance the use of those libraries and vice-versa.
• Applications of SymPy in Mathematics are well explained but there are
other areas where SymPy can be used but those applications are not considered
well. Data visualization, Machine learning, Neural Networks are some of the
Applications. A section is needed to explain the use of Spyder and other
features in these fields using proper visual aids and reference examples.
• Reference examples and visual aid must be provided for each SymPy
feature listed on the website.
Along with these features I would like to contribute in cleaning up the
developer documentation. I hope these ideas are helpful to you and I hope to
receive your valuable feedback. Thank you for your consideration and time.
