encourage you to start with fixing easy issues

 to 
hands on codebase and development.

While doing contribution check your interest area and  respective sympy 
module, to choose particular project . Then you can start discussing your 
idea to make sure mentors are align with your approach, these simple steps 
will surely make your proposal stronog.
