Hi Jeff, Are you saying that a lack of dump device is causing your system to panic? If the system crashes and no dump device is configured then you'll see a message about the lack of dump device, but your system shouldn't panic.
This configuration isn't recommended, but you can run a Solaris system without a swap or dump device. I think your system must have another problem to cause it to panic. Hi there - I have an almost similar situation in that I did have a panic - I thought that in /dev/zvol/rdsk the dump directory want empty so I deleted it. My system now reboots - I am trying to get a Live CD inserted so I can get back into the system. My question is - is it just a matter of recreating this /dev/zvold/rdsk/rpool/dump directory again?
