The Shot Put is already going down those lines. What about the "silly" rule
of having to locate the shot against the neck. Isn't that contrived also??

Another ridiculous event would be to remove the cable and
handle from the hammer. The thrower would then stay within a
circle and hold the ball in one hand, using a thrusting motion to
propel it as far as possible.
