Electronic Telegraph Friday 8 September 2000 Germany's former Olympic 5000m champion Dieter Baumann, whose case goes before the International Amateur Athletic Federation's drugs arbitration panel next week, intends running in this year's BUPA Great North Run. Baumann plans to make his half-marathon debut in the Newcastle to South Shields race on Oct 22. Already Hailie Gebrselassie, favourite to retain his Olympic 10,000m title, has confirmed he will run his first race over the distance, as has last year's London Marathon winner Antonio Pinto.
