On the discussion of the Olympic qualifying times for the
marathon, I'd say that the men have a more valid argument
than the women for "toughness".

Compare the men's qualifying standard of 2:14 to the
winning time in the Olympic marathon (less than 4 minutes).
  Then compare the women's qualifying standard of 2:33 to
the winning time (nearly 12 minutes).    To my mind, that
suggests that the men need to be capable of winning the
race just to qualify - whereas the women just need to be
somewhere within several minutes of the eventual winner.

Am I missing something?
