You got my hopes up with this one, Jon, but I was sad to see that "Terminator" requires a bulky install of cygwin and ruby (on Windows).

I'm constantly jumping between Windows and Ubuntu. Gnome has a great tabbed terminal, but I have yet to find a good one for Windows. If any of you run across a great lightweight tabbed terminal for Windows, please let me know.

Another cross-platform tabbed terminal:

Personally use iTerm on OSX and Poderosa on Windows (http://en.poderosa.org/)

For IDE on Mac, TextMate hands down is a beautiful thing.

If you find a tabbed replacement for terminal i would love to know,
the only thing i have seen is a Quake version which allows the
Terminal to drop down from the menubar but that is useless to me ;)

Russ already mentioned it, but I'll second it - iTerm. It's really what terminal should be.

Cliff, for CHM files, you can copy them over and use the application Chmox to view them.
