You must have changed your advance setting to use check marks to select
items.
So, you need to unchecked that choice.
press window key and the letter e
alt t
arrow up and enter on options
then shift tab
arrow right to view
then tab to advance
then end key and arrow up and unchecked us
option to "use check
boxes" to select items. That could be the answer. HTH

If you are in windows 10, I believe there is an option to "use check boxes"
