Well be it that your original message isn't in this thread I'm not sure
what's going on. Are apps literally vanishing from your profile folder
or not in your Apps manager?

have you thought about checking your computer for root kits or viruses?
none of my apps have ever disappeared.
some do hide from view when the program is not running. like the wlm app for
windows live mail. it will not show in the list if live mail is not running.
