Once you have got to the address book, as Ted said, you just do alt+f for
the file menu and press enter on New Contact or just press the letter c. As
a shortcugt, you can just do ctrl+n.

alt-f to go to file menu. Then hit n (new), then c (contacts). Then tab
through the dialog box and fill in the fields. Check the box that indicates
plain text (if you desire). tab to ok and enter.
