You misunderstand me. Wikimedia Commons is fine for nice photos that can
be used in the OSM project. It has been used for that for a long time.
But autogenerated images of rendering examples? That need to be updated every
time the rendering changes? Thats doesn't make sense to me. Wikis are good

It may fit, OSM wiki qualifies as project "that provide knowledge,
instruction or information".
