I found out that there is a tag tourism=chalet which seems to be quite
a similar concept to alpine hut. Given that the chalet tag is already
approved, I will start using it, but am not sure what to do with the
proposal I created for Alpine Hut.

People suggest to merge this with amenity=shelter, but this is very
different.
There are a lot of these Huts in Austria and Switzerland and there you
can usually buy fooddrinks and get accommodation to stay overnight.
There is however another thing we would need a Tag for.
