[failed to send to list first time, forgot had to use 'reply all'] Excellent, thanks! I've a 901 and have used a similar process previously. For those who, like myself, are using a Debian derivative (actually using a Ubuntu based distro optimised for eee) simply replace yum with apt-get.

BTW, I'd be interested to know how Merkaartor fares on a EeePC. Merkaartor having support for GPSes via GPSD/Serial and being able to record tracks, I had in mind to buy an ASUS for recording/mapping (amongst other things...) Merkaartor being able to run on Windows Mobile, I don't expect
