more something like a city plan.
On the other hand mapgen.pl covers some of the tasks which might prove

Wondered if anyone has ever put effort into producing a street
directory from OSM data. For those in places where they're not common,
a street directory is a bound book with numbered maps covering a city,
at various scales. On the borders of each page are indications to the
map that

What about either TownGuide[1] or MapOSMatic[2]? If theyre not exactly
what youre looking for, they might be a good starting point.

Maperitive can export a list of tags in comma delimited format, these
include street names so just edit the output.

It has always been my intention to make townguide do what you want. There
is the basic code in it to make a book format output but it does not work
properly.
I am working on a new release of townguide building on Waldemar's excellent
Google Summer of Code project.

Cool, do you have any demo of this? (even if just a
Alas Townguide and Maposmatic were developed in parallel. They announced
maposmatic just as I was finishing off the first version of townguide.
I do think it would be worth merging the projects at some point because they
are so similar. Could keep have an option for which back end to use to
