Hi,
For some time lately we're working on the icons for default map.
Nebulon42 is the driving force behind moving from current variety of
PNG/SVG icons to more uniform set of pixel-aligned SVGs where possible,
while I try to learn making new icons for very popular items.
That's where I look
Have you looked at http://osm-icons.org/ at all for inspiration? While
some of them maybe a bit too detailed, I've used them together with the
original SJJB ones for

results.

Not going to happen.
In OSM everyone is free to do what they

Yes. You could.
If not you, who?
Seriously, having a library of icons matching common OSM features is a
fantastic idea, and I'm sure would be welcomed. It does need someone to

There are already a lot of icons out there, although at various places.
I always start my search at

Would it be possible to categorize these standard sets?

Locally we have splash-pads where young children can run in and out of a
spray of water. Very useful in hot weather but not something I'd expect to
see in the UK for example
Sorry - just had to comment on this :-) June 2012 is not typical of UK summers!
Typical of UK autumns perhaps though.

It is also now on github

I like the basic idea and started something similar years ago:

But as all others allready said, the situation is a bit complex. For
every kind of map usage, another design would make sense (with/without

I think the fantasy is to have a basic icon available for every recognized
tag. For custom renders there will always be a need for custom or
different icons but I was hoping that we could evolve a basic set that
covered tags in the existing map.
Yes end users could always use JOSM and look at

Currently JOSM has its own set, various rendering systems have their own
sets but a single recommended set that covered more would be better.
Currently skateboard, Softball, T-ball, toboggan are things that don't seem

I joined the design list thinking it would be a place to talk about
such things as this and, say, the rendering rules for the osm.org
site.
