I guess you probably have to reproject the maps, if they're not
already in WGS84 / mercator 900913.

I have got hold on some maps in AutoCAD .dwg format, and want to use
it as a layer for tracing roads, buildings, and other features into
OSM. I am Mac user, but have access to Linux (Ubuntu) if I need that
to convert the data or to set up a WMS/TMS with the data. I just

I believe you have to go *DXF* - SHP- *OSM.
If you do a google search should pull up some info.

Hi,
If your just going to be 'tracing' from public domain maps (dwg files)
maybe gpsbabel could convert it to gpx, and trace over it that way
would work?
Would be interesting to learn your findings.
Then we could post it on the wiki (if possable, and explain the method)
