I am also unsure, but unfamiliar with situation.

Maybe  reconstruction started already and person who added/recreated
this way has some info?

Given that you're essentially asking a worldwide favour here, that does
seem to be a bit of an officious line to take?

In response to your question, people from (at least) England, Germany
and most importantly India have tried to get the tagging correct:

I'm sure that all of those edits were made for the right reasons, even
if they weren't all the best edits.

May I suggest that a "thank you" somewhere might be in order?

Andy

I'm not in the least precious about how it is tagged, so long as the
fact that a structure still bridges the river, but is impassable to
pedestrians, is recorded.

The news imagery suggests it is no longer usable.

There have been 6 edits of it by locals after its collapse, well I
recognize some of them as locals.

The deletion does not appear to be by a local.

News reports with imagery suggesting it is not a usable bridge ..

https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/other-states/morbi-bridge-collapse-generations-wiped-out-in-disaster/article66083435.ece

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-63445154

Indeed so - but there is still structure bridging the river, as I
said in my original post.

Andy .. what reports do you have suggesting that it is now usable?

None. Did you read my original post? I am not asking for it to be
mapped as usable. I wrote "The way had been marked as impassable. Can
someone restore that, please?"

Arr .. I see it now.

Done... Left message on the mapper changeset.

That would be more fitting for OSM note ( see
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Notes )

And definitely would benefit from link to
- location in OSM
- confirmation that it happened

If you identified specific problem you can also simply edit this location

[OSM-talk] Jhulto Pul/ Morbi bridge

2022-11-06 Thread Andy Mabbett
Someone has deleted the way for the pedestrian bridge at Morbi, India.

This seems to be in error, as - despite the recent tragic collapse -
the superstructure is largely still in place, and still spans the
river, according to press coverage

The way had been marked as impassable. Can someone restore that, please?
