We should emphasis tagging properties and not uses. This is what that well
worn path demonstrates to me, obviously some people think the path is
traverse-able or it would not be worn!
Tags I typically use are, highway = path, sac_scale, trail_visibility,
surface, width. Only on a legal basis

Everything is copyrighted unless it is public domain.
How did you come across this data exactly?

Hi.
There is no reference to an image in the body text of the page. That's what
I'm getting at. How does the image get there? How is it included?

I did see the "Bush Walking Tracks" section, which is more or less in line
with what I had in mind. My problem is the ambiguity created under
"Footpaths and Cycleways" which seems to me biases use by bicycles e.g.:

Add an amenity=drinking_water node where applicable.

For this, I prefer highway=path; foot=designated; bicycle=designated

Bicycle lanes marked on roads are usually more than a suggestion. They
confer legal obligations. Some excerpts from the Australian Road Rules:

My Landsat images are georeferenced and I use them within Oziexplorer.
As to accuracy - I have not seen any errors yet, but will further into this
aspect
As the data is public domain - then I can copy features into OSM with no
problems.
