Running Validator shows up a list of duplicate nodes. Once the validation window is open, clicking on the Validation tab runs through a series of tests. (Validation also runs prior to uploading, but only checks the data to be uploaded, not all the previously downloaded data.)
If you only want to check for duplicate nodes (without checking for other errors), open the preferences, select the 'Data Validation' tab, and deselect the tests you don't want done. Hope this helps.
