Hi all, Last weekend was held a Canvec Import mapping party in Sherbrooke. One of the participant asked if there were significant differences between NAD83 (Canvec and GeoBase datum) and WGS84 (Osm datum) e.g.: are converted Canvec file would fit the Osm data?
As nobody known if there was a correction of some type within the java conversion application, I have checked to make sure we were not in trouble. Here is the answer: Even if there is no datum correction done when converting Canvec to Osm, the largest difference between both datum in Canada is 1.5 meter. http://www.geod.nrcan.gc.ca/faq_e.php#23 So, go ahead, the result is ok!
