Having the ability to easily convert OSM data to shape files will be an incredible achievement. It would mean that users who use programs like AutoCAD & ArcGIS would be able to easily take the existing real-world conditions, and then build their proposal for a new building/area. Eventually, All property boundaries will be available on OSM with building outlines all existing features shown. ... Fortunately for Canada, we already have most of it (Building outlines & POI shapes, and lines for everything from Oil pipelines, to schools to industrial areas to parks & ranger fire watch towers, to portage routes.)
