Can anyone shed some light on why I am causing problems when importing
CanVec data?
I am using Merkaartor to import the CanVec OSM tiles located here:

I used find to select the desired entity (natural:water), and the copy
and paste the features. I then upload

I would suggest you load up a tile in JOSM then hit the download arrow
to bring in the same area from OSM. I usually resize

of the time there's very little there yet, so it's a good way to get
