Hi folks,
just to add a little bit of brain food. I'm involved with the
georeferencing / georectification side of things with the Wikimaps project
with Wikimedia Commons with Susanna Anas as mentioned earlier. We're using
a stripped down version of the open source mapwarper software which
Hi All,
Thanks for those that have helped so far. I am now in contact with a OSM
sys admin to get these maps up on a tile server (for subsequent use in the
OSM editors).
Out of interest, OSM servers are able to create tiles on the fly as long
as it is provided a raster image that is geocoded.
The answer is it isn't really done ;-)
As far as I can tell Commons currently has no documented way of
embedding anything other than a single coordinate pair for an image,
which is obviously okay for photos but pretty unhelpful for maps (or
indeed aerial/satellite imagery). This is a pity, as

Apologies I sent an email earlier but had not copied into the list, I

Hello,
I haven't had a lot of time the last few days to look at these
Hi Steven,
The short answer is not quite sure - I bodged these together from a
couple of CSV metadata sheets. I think they've been exported from
something else to get to this stage but I don't have access to that
(though I could ask). Do you have an example of the kind of
metadata/formatting you

Are the configuration files available already somewhere or is there a plan

Hi Steven,
I've never heard of MAPC2MAPC but it looks great. I posted a comment [1]

I still need to actually get it to create an alignment, but it displays the
material I do have nicely, so is anybody using this for doing the referencing?

Would it e possible for someone to stitch all these into one layer for

Hi Andy,
There is a whole bunch of OS Town Plans available on the National Library
of Scotland website. They are already georectified and served up as tiles
(ready for use in OSM editors). I am in the early stages of getting these
added to iD and JOSM as a series of separate layers.
I note that

I believe, as well, that these are the original drafter's drawings: not

Thanks for the ad, Andy ;-)
These maps are from a British Library collection, which has previously
been online in various forms, so it's not completely new - but
hopefully this is a more accessible format.
There's a total of around 2-300 of these - the exact number varies
depending on whether
