Hello all I'm organising the geoweb stream at this year's AGI conference ( http://bit.ly/17AcUT). Its quite an old-school GIS event, but I have been brought on board to make it more relevant to the neo crowd. I am very interested in the possibility of arranging a mapping party around the conference. It takes place from 22-24 September, the 22nd is a pre-conference day when people are arriving and there are usually a few activities going on.
There are some plans for a geocaching game on the 22nd, so there will be some GPS units around. My plan is to get conference attendees out and mapping on the 22nd, and hopefully some others during the course of the other two days. Ideally we will organise an OSM mapping party for the weekend before, 19-20 September as the conference itself is during the week. To tie all this together, we will hopefully have some OSM papers presented at the conference. It would be a very powerful message to display the mapping done by volunteers before/during the event as part of a presentation. Let me know your thoughts. I have my hands full organising the geoweb stream and need the OSM community involved in running the mapping party. Plus, I want some great OSM related papers for the conference, which need to be submitted by the end of the month - http://bit.ly/42sg9g. Any papers accepted get a free day pass to the conference. Any thoughts and help much appreciated! Chris -- Christopher Osborne www.cloudsourced.com #geomob - gmdlondon.ning.com www.twitter.com/osbornec www.linkedin.com/in/osbornec
