Hi All, Good news! Here in Coventry we are making in-roads to get Coventry City Council to think more about OpenStreetMap. PeterP has done some fantastic work adding details about public rights of way to OpenStreetMap and, on Friday, was able to present a map he created using the Maperitive tool to Coventry's Public Rights of Way officer. At the same time I have been following up with people I was able to meet during last years CityCamp Coventry event. So far this reaches to getting CCC to use our map tiles (see below), small steps but at least it gets OpenStreetMap into the vocabulary of council employees.
Regards, Rob == Forwarded email === Thanks, Rob for the information and the links. I had an initial attempt at replacing two of our maps from Google Maps to OpenStreetMap (using tiles from OpenStreetMap but still using the Google Maps v3 API). This appears to work successfully - take a look at http://www.coventry.gov.uk/info/200009/performance/1732/infographics_and_visualisations/2and http://ias.facts-about-coventry.com/IAS/dataviews/health/life-expectancy-malefor example.
