One of the best tools I found was GPSLogger on Blackberry from eMacberry
It doesn't save directly to OSM but it's a simple job using JOSM.

I have a Columbus V990 a very inexpensive device. I use that for track
gathering and audio notes at POIs. It's so accurate I don't need anything else.
I use GOMap on iPhone for detailed editing of POIs etc.

Great idea. But before that can we have some mapping parties to build up
some momentum?
I see very very slow development for OSM in India. Perhaps we need to
brainstorm for recruiting new members, raising awareness, reaching out to
colleges and universities etc.
