Dear everyone, A couple of updates regarding this initiative. - A NGO working with the Indigenous Peoples (Mabuwaya Foundation) within Palanan, Divilacan and Maconacon need updated map data to support they're work. - Flooding in low-lying areas along Cagayan River and Chico River - Several hires imagery was made available to UN Humanitarian Agencies. We requested these agencies to allow us to trace features for OSM. No reply so far.
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Philippines_Tropical_Storm_2010#Imagery_posted_by_humanitarian_agencies Given the above situation, I guess we just have to maximize the use of existing resources available to us (Landsat and 1:50K topos), I drafted several mapping priorities in the wiki: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Philippines_Tropical_Storm_2010#Mapping_priorities * Large rivers and tributaries (use Landsat for rivers and 250K and 50K topo maps for river names) * Move place=town/city node location to the town proper. * Roads and bridges (visible roads in Landsat are most likely primary and secondary, unknown roads should be tagged as highway=roads) Other things you might want to do is clean-up the wiki. I don't I will be an expert here :). Thanks for helping.
