Just uploaded three GPX tracks to OSM and have been trying to figure out how to
incorporate them into the map.
My first try was with Potlach. I press G to get the traces displaying, but
after that, I'm pretty much unable to do anything with them. I can "convert to

So, I've just processed the first track by using JOSM. I basically used the
grey dots for a guide, and then clicked my way 40 km along the road with the
way creation tool. Was that what I was meant to do? Seems a laborious way of

Yes, you're supposed to trace over your GPX tracks. It's considered bad form
in OSM to directly convert tracks into ways. It is laborious, but doing that
is a piece of cake compared to how people created maps before the advent of
GPS.

Well thanks for the tip. Unfortunately I'd already finished my tracks the hard
way by the time I read your post, so I'll have to use it next time. Anyway, the
national highway is now in place northbound from Cebu, and the tiny 1km by 2km
island of Malapascua now probably has the most detailed ca

Doing it the 'hard way' can often be better, especially if you have multiple
tracks, which is better too :) GPS devices ar
