I would have to agree with Paul on this subject Jack. It's been common
practice to do it this way since I've been a part of the OSM editing community
in 2010. Since the 'ref' tags aren't normal sentences, the ';' isn't
considered to be punctuation like Paul mentioned in his e-mail. I
With these split relations, ways should have forward/backwards, relations
should have cardinal directions in a super relation. Gets to be a real
pain in the ass when ways are using cardinal direction roles.
