Don't get me wrong, they are fantastic musicians and I can listen to that
stuff all day. And being a Texas Fiddler, I'm all for tune development, but
I don't particularly like taking a tune apart or so far from its roots that
its no longer recognizable. If you want to do note gyrations in the key

Jake has been back East and influence too much by John McGann, that radical and
Alex has been hanging out with Grisman and
Jerry Douglas no wonder he plays like
No doubt all great players. But, if I walked into the room while Joliff was
playing the first tune on this clip, I would not have known it was
Mississippi Waltz, and I play the tune! And on Old Daingerfield with Alex,
again really done well, but why the need to separate the 3rd part? Because
