Hi Nelson,
I am one of the tbuggers that recommended the Blake/Rice 2 CD. If you
are enjoying Norman's mandolin playing, there is a Homespun tape (and
probably a DVD now) with a number tunes played and demonstrated by
Norman and his wife Nancy. One of the tunes they dissect is Father's

Hi Brian,
All I had to do is step 1 and I was able to open up Mississippi
Palisades and Grub Springs pdfs, the mp3 of Mississippi Pal, and a
picture of Mr. Monroe.
Seems to work for me.

rather than lack of interest.
As a newer member of the group, I really appreciate all the
conversations and comments and even though my version of the December
tune may never make the land-o-tube, it has been fun working on it.

Very good points Gathel. I have already learned alot about myself
watching my video attempts. Like do I really hold my pick like that?!!
Kinda like listening to your own voice. We do tend to be our own
worst critics.
I also find this group very supportive of everyone's attempts and hope

Thank you for bring this up. I wondered if I was the only one
confused by the difference between the mp3, the youtube, and the tab.
I went to a jam this weekend and asked an old time fiddler there if he
knew Hatcher's version of Grub Springs. He promptly played the
straight version of the tune f
The procrastination monster can be a big factor but being busy with
other life stuff can be too. Guess it depends on how much everyone is
looking to develop their repertoires.
I personally like to have 3 or 4 tunes I am working on at a time.
Perfecting a tune takes me alot longer than getting it

Thanks for grabbing and sharing this video Linda. It is clear to me
that Mr. EC certainly knows how to pick his musicians. Besides being
experts in their individual genres, each and every one them is an
expert at supporting the singer.

Hi. I'm new to this group and may I say what a joy to find so many
others sharing my passion with this music.
My earliest memory of listening to a song over and over was an old 78
record of "Your Feets Too Big", maybe pre-Fats Waller.
Getting ready for an 8 hour drive tomorrow and I gathered these
