Discovering where one fits in this whole shebang is very interesting
and just reading about gutbucket has been another entire journey.
Been working on that monster Prison Blues and it's hard to get the
right feel instrument
Holstein,
I'm with Erik. If adding extra pieces is only to please others, forget
about it. I think there's probably more things to do on earth than to
depend on bluegrass festivals for livelihood. What about all those
folk/blues events you guys have got in Oz? You're leaning towards the

again. We did find a bass player who is really great as a person and
as a musician. I really enjoy the trio--I don't have to work quite as
hard as in the duo and t
I feel if the only reason to add members is to get gigs or make other
people happy, then don't bother. A duo is a band, isn't it? And you

Geez here I was thinking, wow that just sounds like the situation I'm.
Then I scroll down and it’s you Holstein. larf.
Bud we have a big sound for a duo and it clear the audience loves it.
The problem is the gate keepers have a very narrow view of what is
appropriate, what is Bluegrass and wha

We are an incompetent duo with fiddler singer, which makes us a trio, but
obviously the sound has to come from guitar/mando and no bass, no banjo.
It's a terrible job sometimes getting it to sound full and figuring out
where the tune needs to be so we can sing it, get bass notes and a groov
Howdy Campers,
Of late, we (that beings Bo'Weavil and myself) seem to be making good
headway and enjoying playing and arranging as a mandolin / guitar duo
with all the harmony bells and whistles.
The very interesting thing, is that people are suggesting that we seem
to be limiting ourselves by no
