Why not use the new feature of the 'Space' shortcut key which gives 'Mark as read, and move down' ? If you're not aware of this feature look in Options\Preferences\Message List, about halfway down; the two lines "Go to next unread message with SmartSpace reading", and "Mark the current message as read when taking off the message". NB: these last two quotes are Ritlabs' English, not mine! It works in both the preview mode and the Folder View.
