Imagine that you receive an email with the following attachments:

winter.jpg, autumn.jpg, summer.jpg and spring.jpg

If  you want, with the pane mode, you may select any random set of the
above  list  of  attachments  and  delete  it  (ie:  (winter, autumn),
(summer, sprint, winter), (winter, summer) you name it).

To  be  coherent with your arguments, the button view should mimic the
possibility  to  select any arbitrary set of files from the attachment
list for deletion.

That's  exactly  what I'm pointing out. There are some things that you
can  do with the pane view that are not possible with the button view!
