Not confirmed. Could it be you used Del instead of Ctrl+Shift+Del?
When you use Del (on a group of messages) you get the warning I described
before.
But

Mea culpa. Ctrl+Shift+Delete does, but Delete alone (which is what
I've always used) doesn't.

But in that case, I think it is safer to have this warning, because the Del
might have been pushed without knowing the consequences,
I never have and I've never used anything else.

fully aware that even if you just select one message in a thread (group)
the Ctrl-Shift-Del combination will delete the whole thread (group).
