WindowBlinds for XP actually replaces the XP Visual Styles. As a
result, there is no performance hit compared to using plain XP visual
styles. There are those who actually claim that their system is faster
than when using XP's visual styles. Stardock do make similar claims.
However, my personal experience is that I haven't seen any change in
performance, unless you're using a very fancy skin.

Again, interference with applications depends on the skin you use.
There are those that work very well, and there are others that have
little problems with applications. TB! is one of the main applications
that's finicky with skins.

However, a good skin works really well with very few
incompatibilities, usually only with those applications that do it's
own window elements rendering, even though these application
interfaces may look pretty much standard.
