Although I suggested to the original poster that, for his purposes, he
might store attachments externally, I store mine internally.  I do
that for several reasons:  security (Eudora's Qualcomm used to
recommend it, perhaps still do, for security reasons); housekeeping to
avoid unneeded attachments piling up; ease of keeping things together
when moving message locations or archiving; and speed, although TB!'s
developers say that is no longer as much of a concern.
