It seems that only when I went into my account properties->IMAP Fine-Tune and checked 
the "Automatically disconnect after synchronisation" did things finally begin to 
work... could it be that in the Connection Centre it was counting the IMAP Online 
status as a task and therefor was unable to cont. to the other tasks (ie. my send mail 
task)?
