If you really get desperate you could try telnetting to claranet's
server on the smtp port and try sending a HELO or EHLO message. I just
tried it and got in without a problem.
telnet claranet.com 25
EHLO 1.2.3.4

via exactly the same route, I presume that I have inadvertently changed a
setting somewhere! Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?
