The Unemployment Compensation Program and the system supporting it, processes over 30,000 claims a week. The Benefits system is a critical legacy system which provides MDOL with the capability to register individuals for unemployment insurance benefits and disburse those benefits. This system paid out $449 million in federal funds to unemployed claimants in 2009.
