Description:
The ETL/Informatica person will be a member of the team, and is serving as
the "go to" person for all relational databases. He or she will advise on
Oracle best practices for development and production environments, analyze
query plans, monitor production database performance, troubleshoot
bottlenecks and continually improve production ETL (Extract, Transform and
Load) processes. Specific responsibilities include:
* Performance tuning: Indexing, compression, drive
distribution,load-balancing, replication
* Setup and maintain accounts, access levels, and security, with
monthly/quarterly security auditing of
terminated/non-current users
* Translate technical database issues, requirements, limitations and
parameters for management and staff, and
understand business work processes and business impact
* Coordinate with and provide support for applications programmers, system
programmers, users, administrators, and IT personnel where databases are
concerned
* Develop and maintain build standards and procedures for the database
environment
* Providing consultation support to development teams and systems
administrators
* Providing consultation and development support for the physical database
design for database applications in production and development
environments
* Providing consultation support for logical database design for database
applications in production and development environments
* Responsible for monitoring physical capacity
* Monitoring informational/error logs for messages specific to system
operation (share responsibility for monitoring with Systems
Administration and Production Control)
Required Skills and Experience:
* Bachelor's Degree
* 5-7 years of DBA experience with Oracle in development and production
environments, as well as Microsoft Windows and networking
* Experience in a data warehousing environment
* Excellent understanding of Oracle architecture, administration, PL/SQL,
query plans, and security
* Knowledge of commodity server hardware to include UNIX
* Experience with Informatica
Strong diagnostic, problem-solving, and communications skills
