Tesseract's character recognition fails in presence of photo images

Hello All, Do you happen to have any tips towards improving Tesseract's performance next to photographic images? Tess's performance is solid until there is an image next to text, then it fails to find anything. The images are mammograms with text labels off to the side. Let me know of any furt
