If anyone gets the same problem (Windows encoding) :
1/ check for plainenc.tex on your HD : if necessary, download it
2/ add \\input plainenc\relax\inputencoding{ansinew}\ under PMX
It works for the whole body of the document. That is : it doesn't work with the
title, the author, and the staff

Robin : you're right, I'm writing mails with UTF-8 encoding ; but as David
pointed out, I'd like TEX to read (Windows') ANSINEW encoding.
I guess I try \\input plainenc\relax\inputencoding{cp850}\ ; let's hope cp850
works in my case...
